Retriever Working Days Silvaplana 2026

Palueds comp

Location - Silvaplana-Surlej

In the middle of the impressive lake landscape of the Upper Engadine, framed by majestic peaks such as Piz Julier, Piz Surlej and Corvatsch, the region's local mountain, lies idyllic Silvaplana with neighbouring Surlej - nestled in breathtakingly unspoilt nature.

The Corvatsch area offers an extremely varied terrain that is ideal for a working test: wide plateaus with optimal vegetation, densely overgrown forest areas, light-flooded clearings, impressive Swiss stone pine and larch stands as well as the picturesque „Lej Nair“, which provides ideal conditions for water work.

Mock trial seminar (with seminar documents) and training for beginners
(Registration level: Category Novice)

Training content and requirements

The mock trial seminar gives participants a practical insight into how a mock trial or small game hunt can be organised and how the dogs can be used sensibly.
The aim is to gain initial experience under realistic conditions.
The focus is on calm work and initial handler-dog coordination as part of a drive or in the line. The dog is expected to remain steady - i.e. to wait calmly and attentively at the handler's side until it is his turn - and to retrieve reliably into the hand.
The terrain presents the dog-human teams with varied and challenging situations, which are nevertheless specially designed for beginners in the Novice category. The requirements are less complex, the distances are shorter and the judging takes place without elimination.

Daily routine:

  • Morning: 6 teams and 6 helpers
  • Linchtime
  • Afternoon: 6 teams and 6 helpers

Seminar leader and trainer:
